I have a long term business client. They are using MYOB Retail Manager. The issue is the database is corrupting. Like once in a while, yea ok. Though of late is occurring more often.

I do the usual restore backup, rebuild. Then occurs again, say a week or so later. So I am looking for an alternative to Retail Manager. Does anyone have any experience in POS.

As it is nearing EOL and no further updates or support.

Thanks

Thanks - I did look at them "Tower Systems". As that is all that does come up in a search - may give them a call on Monday.
As sounds like what the client needs, a transition from RM to their software.

What version of RetailManager?
I actually use it to run my small shop, for over the counter sales, invoicing and customer accounts. On v12.5.709 which dates back to 2015 I think. Inherited it when I bought the business 19 years ago, only upgraded RM once or twice in that time.

It works so reliably I've never changed, and never had a database corruption. I've never had to restore a backup.

Much to my accountants chagrin, I'm still using MYOB Business Basics V1 Release 6.3.00. (2004 ish?)
Never had a problem.
It does my invoicing, keeps my client database and keeps track of my small amount of inventory.
Despite her protestations about getting the lastest version because "we cant open your .dat file anymore" they always seem to be able to.
It'll see me out. :)

Is the latest 12. whatever it is. Yes has been doing it just lately. Not very convenient as new owner has taken over, now RM decides to corrupt.
The .mdb file is only around 180MB as well, so not a large DB. I only restored the DB last Friday, then they called me in on Sunday. Once the RM is closed down, it usually gets corrupted on reopening. I have heard that RM is at it's end of life and MYOB are no longer supporting it.

Probably a long shot, but it isn't a failing HDD is it?

Otherwise it's probably something to do with the size of the mdb file (and a bug in the application). Mine's only 54MB.

No HDD is perfect, though had a meeting today and going to look at Tower Systems as @Porthos stated. Had a convo over the phone with someone from them this morning, seems ok and in Vic,AUS as well.
