I have a client that has a Dell Lat. D620 with a Dell type D docking station that has gone belly up. Motherboard has failed and can be repaired cheaply enough but the client knows that it's probably best to move on to a new unit.

Never dealt much with docking stations. I mostly sell Lenovo but I've never sold any Thinkpads with a dock.

Needs of the PC are basic, Win 7 Pro, Office, an LOB app Called NetX360 for stock trades. Salesforce and outlook. Main thing is a dock with dual port output to run two monitors when docked, KB, Mouse and printer.

Who has the better setup? Dell or Lenovo? Or someone else? HP?

Are USB docs any good or they as I suspect mostly crap?

Thanks,

I installed a new Sony Vaio laptop with Toshiba Dynadock 3.00 about 3 months ago have not had any issues so far. Bonus is it's not limited to only one laptop.

I always choose Lenovo over Dell and HP.

If you go to http://www.lenovoquickpick.com/, you can search for accessories via laptop model (all compatible accessories of that model), or from accessory model number (all laptops compatible with that accessory).

I've supplied W530's and T530's with docks without any problems.

I would definitely steer clear of USB docks. Go for a dedicated dock.

The dock I supplied with the T530's and W530's is 0A65702 (US Part No: 433835U). Specs state With selected ThinkPad systems, attach up to three monitors along with ThinkPad display, for a four monitor configuration.

I have two docks (no Laptop). One is a Dell model No. PR03x & a Dell model No. PR01x (for use with adapter model PA-10 or PA-13. Would either of those work for you?

Sorry. You misunderstand. I'm not looking to purchase on Technibble. Just opinions from Techs who have used docs. But thank you anyway.

I've sold a couple of the Toshiba DynaDocks and they seem to work pretty well, though I'm a big Dell fan & steer my clients that direction whenever possible.

I would also definitely go with a traditional Dell Dock over the Toshiba.

Lenovos are nice machines as well....

My experience: You can never go wrong with a Lenovo Thinkpad. Might be a tad expensive depending on type. But they make up for it by not having any problems compared to say dell or hp.

Their dockingstations are very nice as well.
