Its actually fairly common now. I believe it uses the heartbleed exploit? Anyway, the issue will more than likely at some point come back. Turn off plug and play if enabled and change the remote management port to something other than default as a precaution...I've seen this happen mostly to the Cisco/Linksys E1000/1200/n300 or whatever they are calling it nowadays.

Once doing that, never had the issue reoccur.
