New ISP, Same WAN IP Address

Have had a cable ISP for a long time. Just switched to fiber. Connected directly to the ONT from the WAN port on Untangle - no modem. Untangle WAN port refuses to release the external cable IP address and accept a new one from the new ISP. Obviously (since I'm here asking), I do have internet access even with the old external IP address. I have rebooted the Untangle box thinking that should reset the interface, but no. I even unplugged it for almost an hour but it retains the IP address of the previous ISP.

I did find a thread from 2012 here:

https://forums.untangle.com/networking/30052-properly-release-wan-ip.html

I haven't seen anything addressing the issue in the wiki either, so I don't know where to look next. Will I have to rebuild it from scratch?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it sorted.

Never seen Untangle "not release" the WAN info if it was set to DHCP/Obtain Auto. Sure it wasn't static assigned?

If ever in a pinch like this, don't forget with Untangle, just grab one of the other ETH interfaces, set it for WAN...and...there's your new WAN interface with a fresh start. Disable the "broken" one for the moment.

I'll bet he's simply reading the UI wrong. There's no way on this green earth a device has taken an IP address from one ISP and gotten connectivity on another. That's TCP/IP 101 stuff, simply cannot happen.

Only time I've seen an Untangle appear to do this, someone filled in the override configuration on the WAN interface in question. But again if that were the case, there'd be no connectivity on that interface.

Well, I'm ashamed to admit just how bad this was. Nevertheless, when I unplugged the cable from the previous ISP I unplugged the wrong port on the Untangle box. Plugging the new ISP into the wrong port will never provide a new WAN IP address. As if that wasn't bad enough, it wasn't until I noticed I had lost connection to the entire LAN normally connected to that port that I even went back to check what port I had swapped. By that time I had wasted the entire morning on it. I thought a simple "nevermind" would keep me from having to explain myself. Just one of those days, I guess.
