I received a quite expensive HP laptop to repair, the display was broken, the touch was still working. I bought a new display and touchscreen assembly from Aliexpress, since I am in Romania, there're very few possibilities to get parts. The new parts arrived after about 2-3 weeks. I put the new display and connected the touchscreen and the laptop didn't power on. I removed the touch connection and the laptop started but now the keyboard and the mouse stopped working. Now whatever I did, installed Windows on different SSDs, updated BIOS, updated all drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled keyboard and mouse drivers, etc, the keyboard and the mouse won't work as soon as windows starts. At a fresh installed of Windows they work for few minutes until some updates would install in the background then they stop working.
What should I do? Am I chargeable to pay for a new laptop?

These questions are probably better posed to your local PC Repair Shop.

We do not offer end user support.

This forum is for Computer Repair Professionals who either own, run or work in an IT support business.
A quick search will help you locate forums for do-it-yourself end user support like wwww.bleepingcomputer.com

I said I received a computer to repair, which means I repair computers. and I also own a repair business. Please don't reply if you can't read. Thank you.

I can read very well, and with that attitude you wont go far on this forum. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Your initial post did not indicate that you own, run, or work in an IT support business - only that you received a laptop to repair. Many end users attempt repairs themselves, and without clarification, we assume applicants must meet the forum’s professional requirements.

If you are indeed a professional repair technician, you are welcome to provide details about your business or experience. However, if you are looking for general troubleshooting help as an end user, this is not the right forum. As mentioned, there are other forums better suited for DIY support, such as BleepingComputer.

Our membership requirements are in place to keep discussions relevant to industry professionals. If you feel you meet those requirements, feel free to clarify. Otherwise, we encourage you to seek assistance in a more appropriate venue.

Boot from a winpe and see if everything works, if it does get off network and install drivers manually block updates from installing drivers

Did you order the HP part number? Or just a screen with the same make and model. The laptop not powering on with the new part generally is a good indicator the part is not compatible. You can go to partsurfer.hp.com and use the serial number to look up a part or assembly. You may also have an issue if the laptop was purchased elsewhere, say the UK or Germany and imported into Romania.

Did you detach the battery before doing all of this?

Hi Ell, thank you for your reply.I had made a clean Windows install and it has worked...for about 5 minutes, then some updates were installed in background (I didn't search for updates) and the keyboard and the mouse stopped working. I thought about stopping the updates to install but I think this would create further problems, like not able to access some websites and maybe other problems. I was wondering if somebody would realize what update may create this problem and I could uninstall only that one.

Hi Frase, thank you for your reply. Honestly...I think I did but not very sure , usually I do it, especially when I work with screens, because they are most common to create problems when they are connected with the battery connected.

Hi Mark, thak you for your reply. The laptop was purchased from Austria. The part may not be compatible but now the problem is it is not working properly even if the touchscreen it is not connected.
