Last I saw I don't think there is an upgrade path from Essentials to Standard.
Actually it's pretty easy nowadays: https://glennopedia.com/2017/01/06/how-to-upgrade-windows-server-essentials-to-standard-edition/Last I saw I don't think there is an upgrade path from Essentials to Standard.
I believe you pay for the full standard license at around $880 + whatever CALs cost. I don't know since all of our clients fall in the Essentials range. @YeOldeStonecat will surely know.dell sells the standard version for $350 more than the essentials. Any idea what it would cost to upgrade later?

I think it's 4TB total.I usually by my server barbones from my distributor and then put in what I like, it gets me more bang for my buck and I get to choose. If you are trying to configure raid options on dells website you're better off calling them. Also do they really need 4tb drives, what do they have now for storage drives?
What about using software raid for the OS and hardware raid for the data? I can't seem to find a combo that works on Dells site for a 4tb data drive
