Nexus 7 2013 2nd Gen Screen Replacement - Display Issue

I replaced a screen on a Nexus 7 2013 2nd Gen yesterday and everything went pretty smoothly, this wasn't my first but when I turn it on the Google logo doesn't show up or the android man basically it stays black until it comes to a resting point which I assume is the swipe to unlock screen. At that point it displays random color pixelation. The power button works and volume buttons. It will charge and the speakers work.

I'm thinking I received a bad lcd but I was also thinking it could be the display cable even though that looks mint I read they are very sensitive. Keep in mind it was displaying fine before except for the huge crack in the screen causing the digitizer to not work.

I thought I would ask here before ordering more parts or calling the customer. Pictures are attached.

I've had something similar with mine, in the end I got it working via a hard reset and sold it quickly as faulty.

Since its the weekend it might take a few of the members longer to reply.

I would hook the old one back up to test the cable if PB's reset doesnt fix it.

It's been a while since I had one so I can't remember, but is there a revision number on the lcd? Most of my troubles with Asus tablets usually come down to a mixture of rev. issues.

A hard reset results in the same display output where you would normally see the reset menu.

I'm unable to test with the old screen as the ribbon cables where partially destroyed while removing it.

Hmm, without the old screen I dunno. Check the cables on both and make sure all the numbers are similar. If I remember right, there were 2 screens for 'em - one for carriers, and one WiFi only version, that weren't compatible with each other.

If it makes you feel better, I rebuilt a handfull of Nexus 4's yesterday and each one of them had their own quirks to track down that doubled the repair times XD

I have read that as well about the carries vs wifi only in the 1st gen nexus. I couldn't find anything about that for the Gen 2 but I did ask the customer to make sure it was wifi only and not a carrier version. All signs point to the screen is correct I would hate to go through the trouble of returning it and it not being the problem. I have already lost money on this repair just in my time. Chalk it up to experience. I knew there was a reason I never did any tablets besides Ipads.
