No IE in Windows 7 in Europe!!!

"Microsoft said it would be easy to install its browser"

I can see thousands of european techs making bank on helping noobs getting their browser installed for the first time.

Yea I saw this article the other day. My question is, all Microsoft powered computers are going to ship browser-less then? That is going to create mass confusion, and as you said - EU techs are going to take it to the bank :p

The company said it would make it easy for PC makers and users to get at and install the web browsing program.

White man Bill speaks with forked tongue.... maybe

This is just stupid! What's an OS without a browser?

PS. I'm from Europe.

Oh man, that would be sweet justice. Don't provide a browser because they got sued for providing one and let them figure out for themselves how to download a browser without a browser.

Jesse (knows that they won't do that though)

So are they going to force Apple to ship snow leopard without Safari? These stupid lawsuits are getting ridiculous. I used to think the US was too litigious, but the EU is getting down right stupid. What's next? Ship without a defragmenter because other companies aren't making as much money?

Next they will have to ship without a Windows wallpaper, as it is taking away from profits of wallpaper designers

I think they need to take this to the logical conclusion and simply force M$ to pick what they want to do. Do they want to ship an OS, then just ship the OS not pinball, spider solitaire, browser, office suites, etc. Does M$ want to do OS's, virus protection, office productivity, internet searching, cell phones, accounting, email, etc. They suck because they are spread too thin. I am not trying to be the Maytag guy, the tv repair man, landscaper, butcher, and car mechanic. If I was I probably wouldn't be all that good at any of them. If I picked one and became an expert THEN we'd be talking high quality.

I think people just go with it because it's convenient, because they certainly AREN'T the best. Have you seen what a nightmare onecare is??

Speaking of OneCare have you seen Microsoft's fix for that? Microsoft "Morro" is the new FREE anti-virus from Microsoft to replace OneCare. It is speculated that it will be used as an add on bonus for users that purchase the Ultimate version of Windows 7.

You would assume the guys who are targeted the most by viruses would know how to keep there OS protected, but something tells me it is not going to go that well. Apparently the big boys like Norton and Mcaffe are not even concerned with Morro touching there client base. I wouldn't be either. Ever hear the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none"?

"Jack of all trades, master of none"?

Exactly. Sure I can wire in a new outlet in my home, run some cat5, fix a toilet, paint, etc. All that general mainance stuff you do around a home. Does that mean since I know a little about electrical work I can wire that new office building they are putting up across the street? Or that I can figure out how big your septic field should be? I can fill out a 1040EZ form, I must make a good accountant. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you'll be good at it.

Please don't bring taxes into this, what a headache! haha

I swear to you, thank God for accountants.

Back on topic, you are absolutely right, but this will never change with them. People are too accustomed to there ways, look at Mac and Linux, cannot even touch MS.

Not sure if you were saying I was off topic. I was showing that just because M$ can do an OS, office, accounting, antivirus, etc doesn't mean they will be good at it. Much like I wouldn't be good at those things in my example.

Perhaps I misread you.

No I was going off topic with the accounting bit, not you at all.

And yea, I was on the same page - what I was trying to say no matter what MS tries to do, people seem to always bite, they are accustomed to the name, and the issues and problems seem to have become "part of the territory"

Interesting read!

It goes against my less government intervention of business philosophy. But at the same time I cant help but feel relieved that the even the biggest boys can be brought to their knees by someone/something. Its a definite paradox. Can be viewed as:

Government controlling the free market.

Or

Monopolys get broken up a by Government. To allow other company's free will.

I'm torn.

IMO, IE8 will be part of the windows live installation package for europe. This on the retail installs.

OEM install, I'm sure it will be installed (amongst all the other stuff!).

IE can be installed through Windows Update
and alternative browser can be downloaded through the cmd
