Fresh Win 10 x64 install, MSI/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti video card.

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2182&SUBSYS_37501462&REV_A1

SDI will not locate the correct one, and none of the ones on Nvidia's site seem to be correct. I haven't had a driver issue like this in a very long time! HELP!

Delete the existing driver using the Device Manager, reboot, then install the 1660TI driver direct from Nvidia. SDI can really screw things up if you install improper drivers. If all else fails, re-image the drive and try to install the driver directly from Nvidia. If that doesn't work then it's possible you've got a failing video card. I recently got in a GTX 770 that would constantly give errors (yellow exclamation icon in Device Manager) no matter what I did. My client had another identical card as it had previously been used in SLI but he took one of the graphics cards out because let's be honest even 10x GTX 770's in SLI wouldn't give you the same performance as a modern card like a 3060. Popped the other card in with the same OS and drivers and it worked perfectly. My client was just using the computer for basic office work so a single 770 was just fine.

And Windows isn't supplying a driver via Windows Update? Check optional driver updates also.

Something not right with that system. Video drivers are easy (e.g. nVidia download) and that GPU chipset is currently or recently still sold.

I agree. The drivers I gave links to are specifically for Windows 10 64-bit, which is pretty much the vast majority of Windows 10 instances.

There's no logical reason that in a fully functioning Windows 10 system a driver installer designed for it should give the error that was shown previously.

I have tried exactly that one. It was the first one I attempted to install. It is a head scratcher for sure.
Are you sure? You have to dig to find the page I linked to where you can select the "standard" driver. Almost every system uses DCH drivers nowadays so that's the default that will come up when you try to download the Nvidia 1660ti driver. If you're sure you're installing the standard driver and it still says you're not then either the link is bad on Nvidia's website or you've got another problem. Try an older driver from that list.

If that doesn't work then screw it. You don't NEED to use the Nvidia control panel. That's the main difference between the DCH and standard drivers. Fire up 7zip and extract the driver manually, then install it using the Device Manager.

Yes, I'm certain. I still have that file in the downloads folder. I may just leave things as they are, except it is stuck on 1024 x 768, and things are appearing a bit large lol.

I've never heard of fake video cards. Is this like the 1TB flash drives for $25 but they're actually 256MB or whatever?

What version of Windows 10 are you installing? DCH drivers should be supported from v1803 and up.

Win 10 Home x64. I did try early on to use the GeForce Experience to locate the right driver. Everything seems to end up with a similar error message like I posted in the screenshot earlier. I delivered it back to the client today. He's only using it for an office pc, so it will meet his needs. No sense fighting this one any longer, wasn't worth the time & effort. Who knows, it may very well be a knock off/fake card.
