Not booting but how would you handle the situation?

Usually when this happens i remove the laptop battery and bios battery and press power button 7 times wait 2 mins put batteries back in and it boots up.

On some Acer models you need to press power button for 30 seconds to reset power firmware. Granted these were tablets but Acer units are known for firmware issues.

Long shot here.......................
But are you sure the CMOS battery was replaced with a good one?
That is possible happened to me once had a bad battery was dead when i pulled out the replacement and put a meter to it was dead read 0 does not happen often but it can.
Also had battery that read ok was not dead but was low machine would not boot put a fresh tested battery and machine started to boot.

Maybe too late now as this post is a few weeks old, I agree that as the last person to touch, it's your repsonsibility to fix / replace it. luckily this laptop is available on ebay for £100 avarage. I would always say to customers that all repairs are carried out with best endevour but unfortunatly, things go wrong and stuff can die, especialy old stuff, just like people can die during operations. As long as I did everything right and didn't spill a can of pop over the laptop, I would offer a good will 50% off the replacement motherboard from a used laptop.

I read through the post briefly. Have you tried an external display to see if the computer works? When you press power and the fan spins then it stops is the computer still on or does it turn off?
