If a client is on Microsoft when offboarding a user we would convert the mailbox to a shared mailbox and the give access to the new user who was taking over the same role as the user who was leaving. That way they have access to all the email history and any new email that might come in for that user.
It appears in Google Workspace that you cannot do that. I would have to actually back up all the old email, delete the user, recreate the account as a group user and then import all the email back into the group email account. This makes no sense for the amount of work involved.
What do you do when a user leaves when using Google Workspace?
What I am trying to accomplish is having the new user have easy access to the old users email. I'm thinking I will have to just leave the old user account there and pay for the mailbox and just change the password and MFA to the new user. Another option would be great.
