[WARNING] Outlook Is Down, Users Are Experiencing Sign-in Failures

Microsoft 365 customers are currently experiencing issues around the world, with users facing sign-in failures and repeated credential prompts when trying to log into their Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive accounts.

"We’re investigating an issue in which some users may be unable to access Outlook and OneNote. Additional information can be found in the admin center under OC186848 and OL186847 or at http://status.office.com ," says a message issued by the Microsoft 365 Status Twitter account.

User reports are also pouring all over Twitter during the last hour, with many of them saying that they have been logged out of their accounts with a "MSPError=-805308370" error being displayed together with a request to sign in using the correct URL.

I hate Microsoft's branding changes. They changed this twitter account from @Office365Status @MSFT365Status. But it's all really confusing because if you have an Office 365 Business subscription that is not the same as a Microsoft 365 Business subscription.
 
I think their activation servers must be playing up too.
Installed win10 pro on a machine this morning and it hasn’t been able to contact the activation servers as yet, even to tell me windows isn’t activated.

I'm not terribly sure how Microsoft can be more clear about this. Microsoft 365 subscriptions should be rather rare for SMBs, but they are rather invaluable if you need to do VDI stuff.

The problem is that is appears that Microsoft is trying to rebrand Office 365 as Microsoft 365, when there is already a conflicting subscription name.
 
They are not rebranding. Microsoft 365 is a suite of services including Office 365 so they have consolidated some of their marketing and reporting social accounts because an Office 365 outage will be covered under both individual Office 365 subscriptions and joint Microsoft 365 ones.

Oh, good, so only a few, then? What, 200 million or so? They seemed to have worked quickly to fix, so good for that, but I love how the press-release-speak notices always seem to play down the impact. To be fair, it isn't clear from their wording whether the impact was all Outlook users (which is a subset of all users) or only some Outlook users (which is a subset of all Outlook users).
 
It was only some. I nor any of my clients had issues yesterday but I saw lots of complaints online. I'm betting only one server was down.

No they aren't. Microsoft 365 is a full desktop subscription solution for all things Microsoft. Office 365 is productivity software on a subscription. That's what it's always been... The only confusion exists within people that don't have enough time to read the differences in the subscriptions.

Which is becoming increasingly our jobs... honestly that's all I do anymore is manage the differences between all these bloody options!

As for the OP, I never noticed this "outage". Yay for clustering?

But that consolation under Microsoft 365 account names does not make sense when having Microsoft 365 means that you have Office 365, but having Office 365 does not mean you have Microsoft 365. It would make sense to be all under Office365.

Nonsense. It means one place to report problems with any component of the Microsoft 365 Suite. It means I don't have to follow an office 365 account and a mobility suite account and a Windows 10 deployment account.
 
Honestly, I think it's a bad idea anytime a company uses its own name as a brand for a product. But in this case, I'm not sure what else they could have called it. I mean what would you call a combination of Office 365, and Desktop OS with virtualization rights?
