Anyone have a quick method of delaying delivery of their Outlook (2010) email?

I would love to be able to hit send and have a quick pop-up that asks how long to delay delivery (like 8 hours would be lovely).

I am engaging my customers WAAAAY too fast, which ends up in almost chat-like emailing back and forth.

I KNOW there is a delay delivery built in, but it is too many clicks away (yes, anything more than 2 clicks is too far).

Looking for any input.

TIA!

right.

I KNOW there is a delay delivery built in, but it is too many clicks away (yes, anything more than 2 clicks is too far).

the thrust of my question is whether anyone has found a way to override the Outlook default send button / keyboard shortcut (alt-s) to automatically prompt for a delayed send. And it needs to be a simple x hours... finding tomorrow at 3 am is too many clicks.

My notes from 2010. Your mileage may vary..

This is possible. Please find instructions below. These steps unfortunately need to be
performed on each computer that needs the delay.

How to delay delivery of messages by having them stay in your Outbox for a specified time,
so that you can easily change or delete them.

1. On the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard, and then click New.
2. In the Which type of rule do you want to create list, click Check messages after sending, and then click Next.
3. Click Next to have this rule apply to all messages, or, if you want to limit the messages that the rule applies to, in the Which condition(s) do you want to check list, select any options you want. I suggest
4. In the What do you want to do with the message list, select defer delivery by a number of minutes. (Delivery can be delayed up to two hours.)
5. In the Rule Description box, click the underlined phrase, a number of, and in the Defer delivery by box, enter the number of minutes you want messages held before sending.
6. Click OK, and then click Next.
7. Select any exceptions, and then click Next.
8. In the Please specify a name for this rule box, type a name for the rule, and then click Finish.

Now, all your messages will be held in your Outbox for a specified time after you click Send.

I'm the OP (and aside from you, the only P) and I was just updating the thread for anyone who might be interested or who might follow. I've never liked the idea of closing old threads as I think it is essentially a KB that lives and grows and closing it essentially kills any further growth.

I'm cursing myself really for not reading the thread properly. Thanks for sharing - I am looking into Boomerang now and will be useful to many I am sure. My suggestion still works to delay ALL email in Outlook 2016, but it doesn't immediately give you a quick select option of course. Maybe enable 30 minute delay rule 9am-5pm.. You might be able to go into the Outbox to send a particular email immediately where necessary. Hope this helps someone.

Good option to have
I bet there have been many embarrassing emails send by mistake that cant be unsent.

My sister last month was discussing over email with her daughter about an excuse not to invite a certain person
she accidentally sent it to that person.

Ouch! Well, I guess she doesn't need an excuse now, lol
