I'd be really interesting to see what everyone's work area looks like. I'll start by posting mine.

As it's located in my house's mechanical room, It's very cramped, but nonetheless functional. In the first pic you can see my workbench, and in the second, my utility table. I fabricated a short hose that I connect to the central vac port (blue thing) to clean computers.

The only drawback so far is that because my furnace is in that room, it gets pretty hot in the summer (my furnace runs all year round as it heats my water and my in-floor heating). To remediate that, I use a fan to get a breeze going.

Looking forward to seeing you guys' setups!

Hmm...

Ok. I understand that not everyone here has a business, and thus, a dedicated computer workbench. But what about you guys that brag about your business/experience? Too much of a hassle to upload a pic???

Too bad. I think it would have been great to see some of them. Pity... :(

Excellent! When are you back Down Under? I'm looking forward to the pics.

Actually, my wife's machine will soon become my Test PC (as I'm replacing it with a better one).

I also looked at building a Test Bench like what's available commercially, but I haven't yet.

This is my work area when I am not onsite
The clean area is my side the other is my co worker and he is a male so guess he has the excuse to be not so tidy

It is in the companys building out the back area of course or eles the public would see that some techies are untidy
Bench is too high to sit at but great height for standing at

Work area? I wish...
I have ram in the kitchen draws, cases & power supplies in the bedroom, server in the lounge room, computers in the dinning room, mobo's processors & cards everywhere, got stuff in the car, monitors in the garage, cords cables cds dvds hard drives fans etc etc all over the place.
My work area is where ever I can find a power outlet free at the time.

This thread makes me want to get organized with a nice bench. Maybe even a little tech station for testing parts.

I will try to get picks of my computer piles how ever I have no work area really. I live at home and plus I don't do too much work in my home and don't do my own service anymore. I might start it back up later but for now I work for a company in thier IT department. We do lack a workbench there and maybe I will get a picture of my pathetic work area and even more pathetic computer they provide.

I have seen a fair few. The good, the bad & the ugly.
My favourite one is the cardboard box style hahahaha.

My home office :) It's in a bit of a state atm, but it's a step in the right direction considering I started out in my bedroom :D

Love the cardboard box corner Simmy. I have the same as well. All the huge cardboard boxes that the hardware comes in really builds up after a while, takes up so much space and is a bitch to get rid of.

Too right Knuckles! It puzzles me how I coped working from just my bedroom and I think no matter how much free space you have to work with, it always get filled with rubbish!

Your PC in a briefcase looks ace. The link to the "how-to" doesn't work though. Is that a Pentium II I see poking its head out? :p

Fixed the Briefcase link, and yeah, thats a P2 poking its head out, as I said its old! Can you imagine what the reaction would be if I walked into a government building with that? Some wires visible and two red "detonation" buttons up top. I think I would be tackled down (or shot) before I even enter the building.

i thought you promised us some photo's when you were back in Australia Knuckles... :( i might even post some pictures of my PC and other Desks if i can borrow my sis' Camera :|
