POS System for Cafe

A local Cafe has come to us wanting a POS system for their store.

Now they would like to have a system where there is either a printer or a monitor in the kitchen to show orders and then a front end POS station with a cash register etc.

I am very familiar with that sort of setup but they also want hand held computers to complete orders at the tables. Now I have seen this at many different restaurants but I am not sure where I would get such a system.

Is anyone familiar with this sort of system and know any suppliers? (Australian supplier please)

Looks good but I need the hardware also and I would like it to be a all in one deal so I don't have to mess around with getting a mobile comp that can run certain programs and then run into trouble trying to get it to work.

I don't know how they handle it on your side of the water, but over here, they supply all the hardware and I believe they handle the install too. They're right across the street from me, so I'll wander over and ask.

Thanks for that.

What I'm thinking of doing is buying most of the hardware from our suppliers as it is cheaper then purchase software that can run on top of that. But I will try to purchase the handhelds pre-programmed.

I have a few companies sending me quotes for software etc so I shall see which one is the cheapest and best for the customer.

I do have an account with Ingram Micro but I will check out Goodson also.

Chris -

I just sent an email to a contact at Dinerware, hopefully they have someone that covers that area. I'll let you know what I hear.
