Power surges

I have them at all my clients who have poor power or have software needed to run milking parlour. Work very well. Infact I use them in the office and at home to protect devices.

Yup we use those for workstations and the network distro (modem/router/switch) all the time. Well....quite a similar model, we stock a lot of the BE550 model and some of the 750 model.

APC is our UPS brand of choice for servers too....their Smart Ups Pro series.

We've found APC to be the best brand for UPS's...compared to other cheaper brands.

Although their company is now global under the name Schneider Electric, they started out with their HQ about 40 minutes from me, over in Warwick Rhode Island. Know people that work(ed) there.

Always use APC. I have been using them for 12 years and not once have I had a bad expereince. Customer service, and replacement batteries have been outstanding.

I use and recommend a similar model for desktop/workstation areas. For servers or POS I always use or recommend they get a Smart UPS no less than a 700 series. In some cases I will even recommend a 700 series or higher for important workstations.

Man the beeping is so annoying when the power goes out though.

The best UPS's to use are called, variously, inline or online or line-interactive. Basically the AC input goes to the battery charger, then the battery which then goes to the inverter/rectifier for AC out to the devices.

As mentioned APC is a well known brand and I use them as well. But they have been gobbled up by Schneider Electric who also bought Square D, another UPS manufacturer. In fact Schneider seems to be buying up a lot of great commercial IT related businesses.

For those willing to spend a few dollars more, look for ups with voltage regulation. Usually, it will say avr or something on the package.

Thanks for the feedback. I know APCs from many years ago but wasn't aware of these ones which are low cost and affordable by comparison.
