I actually got 2 different remotes. The other is also Rii. It's the one that looks kind of like a PS3 keyboard. I hate that it's rechargeable, though. For a remote I just want to swap batteries and be up and going again. Already have so many of these chargers around, I just don't want another set up for my remote. And, of course, there's the IR component in this one that I love. The rechargeable one is going to be for everyone else to use. My family is not the best at cleaning up their own messes. So a dead rechargeable remote would mean everyone would use it, but only I would recharge it. That would annoy me.That's the remote I mentioned earlier, with a keyboard on the back. First thing you should do is tweak its speed, took me a few to find a comfortable mouse speed so it didn't try and fly off screen or having to do a 3' arc in front of me to move the cursor across the screen.
I had 2 of them... Ex-girlfriend took one, and the other died. I should pick up another, looks cheaper now than when I bought them.
It is going to be a while before I actually do this, I think. It has been slow here for 3 weeks now and I just don't want to spend $100-$200 for a processor for what is essentially going to be a toy right now. I have everything else, just no 1151 processor. Everything which has come in for recycling lately has been 1155 or older, or AMD. I even checked with another computer store in a bigger town to see if I could get a used one. They don't sell them used, but their reasoning is a little stupid. The way they see it they have 2 choices. They can either sell them for a high price and have to warranty them or recycle them for next to nothing. It would make a lot more sense for them to sell them cheaply, say, 10% or 15% or so of their value new, with no warranty. As long as they made a realistic effort to ensure it worked as far as they knew I wouldn't be upset to buy a bad one and have to go back for another and they would make 20x or more than they are on recycling. If I spent much more than $25 or so on it, though, I would want some sort of guarantee. At least 30 or 90 days. But even $10 per processor with no guarantee is better than $10 for, what, 20 to recycle them?
Thanks for the tip about adjusting the speed. I hadn't even considered that yet. I actually haven't thought much about the project at all for about a month now, just because money is an issue until business picks up. A month ago I couldn't keep a used computer on the shelf. Now I couldn't sell one to save my life.
