I have been using Magic Jellybean portable for awhile which is excellent, but I want something that will get more keys. The enterprise license for "recover keys" is $300 which is a fair bit more than I want to spend on this kind of software.

Can anyone recommend a less expensive product that will output a large range of product keys?

I have been using Recover Keys...... Sorry, but I found that it gets everything I need..... So I went and spent the money.

i use this

ProduKey is a small utility that displays the ProductID and the CD-Key of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Office 2003, Microsoft Office 2007), Windows (Including Windows 7 and Windows Vista), Exchange Server, and SQL Server installed on your computer. You can view this information for your current running operating system, or for another operating system/computer - by using command-line options. This utility can be useful if you lost the product key of your Windows/Office, and you want to reinstall it on your computer.

Good luck bro.

I have used Game Key Revealer and SoftKey Revealer in the past. You can find them here.

EDIT:

LicenseCrawler is another program. Recover Keys looks nice but that is a lot of money for a program like that.

PC Medics, since you've got the full version of Recover Keys, would you be willing to run a bit of a review of the other programs? Just a quick run of each and how many keys they each found (and if they missed any important ones)?

It'd be helpful to know which of the others comes closest.

Edit: Hadn't noticed this was an old thread. PC Medics hasn't been active for a while now. If anyone else has the program, a comparison would still be welcome.

I'd be happy to volunteer a review. I just purchased a license for $20 (coupon code RK20Q1) and integrated the installation into my bootable toolkit (as I prefer to use it via WinPE in the case of a failing drive instead of a full-blown OS. I tested its performance via my virtual machine and found that searching for keys in a remote registry hive was quick and painless, taking around 30 seconds to 1 minute in total depending on machine speed. You have the option of either selecting the Windows directory of the offline PC or the SOFTWARE registry hive for searching. Of course, scanning the current OS is also supported, as well as scanning remote PCs over the network.

Exporting the data is also simple. A single button provides export options to a variety of text formats, including txt and doc, and even PDF. The export dialogue and program libraries work perfectly even within WinPE.

Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

A few questions, Steve:
Just to confirm, that was Recover Keys you were talking about? I'm asking because the price in the first post say $300 and you say $20. That's a great coupon code. :)

You don't say how many keys it found in that 30-60 second search. Did it find all the ones you needed and did it miss any big ones?
Can you do a test run with a few of the aforementioned keyfinders and tell us which ones did well and which ones dropped the ball?

A keyfinder that works outside of Windows is great but there are quite a few that will find the Windows key. 16K_ZX81 (OP) was looking for some free/affordable ones that will find less common software (e.g. Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, etc.)

Single license 1 PC $24.95
Basic license 2 - 9 PCs $59.95
Premium license 10-99 PCs $149.95
Enterprise license Unlimited $299.95

Looks like he bought the single licence rather than the Enterprise edition which 16k_zx81 was talking about.

Yup. As far as I can tell, there is nothing in the agreement about not using it to recover from multiple registry hives with merely a single license. It's a little bit of extra work to connect the drive to the PC on which it's installed or copy the SOFTWARE registry hive over, but it's worth the cost savings IMO.

As for performance, it seemed to locate all of the major keys on my PC, though it did miss some specialist software (such as R-Studio, etc.). Of course it can't get everything. But it seems much better than all of the free solutions out there!

Agreed, I looked through the EULA and couldn't find anything which said you couldn't use the single version to extract keys from slaved drives. If it was, I suspect they would have disabled the feature in the single esition.

An Enterprise license is for large businesses to allow many tech's to use the same license. In this case, 10 tech's or more.

Im a bit confused, because the license below that is only for 99PC's. So therefore the product can be licensed for either one tech at up to 99 pcs or for 10 techs at unlimited. Seems like a bit of a gap there?
