So I would like to offer my clients a remote, off-site backup solution using FTP. I came across Cobian Backup. (cant post url, google cobian backup)

It works well for what it does, but some of my clients are using other large company software that will simply backup \ restore with a couple of clicks. I basically and looking for something with a simple interface that will allow my users to setup the directories they want to backup and it runs every night on its own (incremental would be best). Cobian is great but it doesnt simply offer the remote restore within the software, just backup.

does anyone have a suggestion, paid or free? (preferably free, or cheap_)

Carbonite works well if that's the sort of thing you are looking for. You can get a reseller account which knocks off over 20%. I use this for my handful of business clients.

Look into setting up and selling the Ahsay Backup software. It might be more elaborate than you want but fits what you are asking for and I have current experience using it. Look into and let me know if you had any more questions about it.

Doc Cobian is great isnt he? Well, I would say that if you like his software and want to use that, then you could also write a script you install on their desktop to restore it all. You can use batch scripts with ftp. Another alternative would be the free thing from Microsoft. It is called microsoft synctoy I beleive and it's freeware. But a custom .bat script you slide off on their desktop might be best.
If none of this meets your needs, then let's talk. Maybe I can put some of my computer programming skills to use, and come up with something in c++, or vb that will do it for you. :) If you can get the people to keep all their files in the 'mydocuments' folder, and the program would only need to restore user xyz to my documents via ftp that may indeed be quite dooable.
What could we call it ? RestoreMyStuff? RestoreFTP ? hmmm.
