To get inside an iMac, you obviously have to remove the LCD panel which looks relatively easy, but first you need to get the glass off the front...

Is that all? I was kind of intimidated by these 'till I watched a video. Getting the glass off the front doesn't look that hard if you have a suction cup.

That's pretty much it, just get a good suction cup. Just learned this myself recently. The hard part seems to be making sure there is not dust when you put the glass back on.

The new iMacs have the glass and screen fused together, like an iPad, and are attached with adhesive.

As said above, heat, guitar picks, time and patience are required to remove it without breaking it.

You can't reuse the adhesive, you need to replace it, and it can be a bit tricky to get back on.

We are an aasp so have access to the official apple repair tools.
The one they have for the new iMacs is like a mini pizza cutter with a small roller that you basically slip between the glass and aluminium case and then roll backwards and forwards all the way around.
Eventually it breaks through enough adhesive for you to be able to remove the glass and panel unit.
As stated above you then need to remove the old adhesive and apply new strips, which we also get from apple.
No heat is required to get the glass off or the old adhesive.
