Should I buy ifixit tools, or is there something better out there?

Well, IFixit tools comes with lifetime warranty. They claim that the bits doesn't strip out or they will replace them.
So, I give them the benefit of the doubt.

Not a tool but an accessory, the Ifixit Magnetic Project Mat is a must esp. for laptop and phone repair.

I have one of the ifixit kits I found on clearance at a local Microcenter and it is perfect for on-site repairs when a new residential client prefers their laptop to stay at their house.

When at my workbench though I have always preferred good solid 1 piece screwdrivers. I have had really good luck with kits branded for RC car use primarily from Tamiya and Team Associated. They are a little harder to find nowadays with most cars and planes switching over to hex but I still see them occasionally in the clearance bins heavily marked down. I have bought some singles for as little $0.25 and small kits for a few dollars.

iFixit definitely has some of their own original products, but many of the things they sell are available on Amazon (minus the iFixit branding) for a fair amount cheaper.

I too also use several iFixit kits. The pro tool kit is invaluable. I have also noticed that their pry tools are far better than most I've used in the past from other brands. Look for promo or affiliate links to iFixit on the web and you can get additional discounts after registering for a Pro Account.

I see that ifixit has some deals on some tools on their website, and I am considering buying them. I see alot of mixed reviews on their quality and pricing though. Is there something better out there I am not aware of?
The iFixit 54 piece driver set is amazing. I have been able to find the iSesamo on eBay for $3.00 including shipping. It comes from China so it takes a while but I order 10 at a time.

I picked up an awesome set from Tip Top in Winnipeg similar. It's a godsend. How often I have to dive into it.

I can't praise the ifixit tool kit enough. The quality is great for the price, and should any parts break, they replace them without any hassle.

I've had cheaper lower quality branded sets in the past, and either bits are loose and get lost - or they break after a few months. They may be cheaper - but longer term, you end up spending more on replacing lost or broken bits.

These days, I prefer to pay more out upfront on better brands or quality products - but save in the longer run.

I have work on computer for over 20 years and went through LOTS of different tool sets.

In my opinion there is only one brand of tools that you should consider...

Wiha

They are not cheap but they are extremely good quality and they will last you WAY longer.

not sure if you have a harbor freight in you're area or not but they have a good selection of tools at good prices i got pretty much my entire toolbox worth of tools from there and they always have something new. i recently purchased a interchangeable screwdriver set with about every kind i would need and also has a a extension piece as well cost me like 4.98 the only tool i have not bought from them is the apple screwdriver which i picked up on ebay for less then what ifixit wanted for it

Wiha are the best ones I have used, longest lasting tips and great control for small screws. The general brand and many of the cheaper ones wear too quickly to last long at the workbench so I have taken to spending the extra money and buying quality tools.

i used to have a 45 bit kit but changed to ifixit 54 bit kit after the head worn out. ifixit kit are more reliable and they have "lifetime" warranty on the bits.
