I've been getting the error roughly "failed to extract -2" when trying to install some drivers. I tried deleting the index files from their folder, but it didn't seem to help.

You may need to delete the drivers folder, too. I have in the past, just deleted the whole thing and started new.

Some drivers fail to extract when something is wrong in the system, eg. when a prerequisite chipset driver is needed before the devices attached can be installed.

My Snappy Driver Installer Origin was reporting this error:
"Failed to extract, error 2"
I solved it by downloading new files from https://www.snappy-driver-installer.org/download/
extracting the .zip
and copying the "drivers" directory from my old SDIO folder (so i save net bandwidth as it was 2GB+ in size). It somehow synchronized it and found some new devices/driver updates. And error no longer appear.
