Well, my sort of store front will be changing soon. Being a home business, I do have customers bring their equipment to me. Most take me up on being home most of the time, with the minority having a call out.

The business is located in the basement, but that entrance is in need of repair, and a real sidewalk/walkway. Also changed the structure of the rooms. This is a 1/2 basement, with a separation from the other side with a door. The way it used to be is that the main entrance goes to the dual purpose game room and business. A larger room was the bench room and a smaller room an exercise room. NOW, the larger main basement (still the 1/2 basement) is dedicated to the bench area, with triple the counter space and double the work area. The entrance area (1/2 of the entrance room) is the 'store front.' I'll be purchasing store fixtures to showcase items for sale, and the two areas will be divided by a black velor curtain. The smaller room will now be computer storage, and the larger the exercise room.

The entrance will be repaired/prettied up, and when the weather breaks, a pathway and pathway lighting will be added.

I didn't want to spend the money, but I think if I put out a better impression, the word will spread, and more work will ensue. I'll be placing photos, and a youtube video online as major stages are complete. If anyone has any decorating ideas I'd be more than welcome, but my space is still limited, being a 1/2 basement already. So far spent about $350 on the added counter space, which will make my life so much easier!

As you can see, I have the physical layout of the space, but what I'm usually lacking is the little touches that add to the whole thing. Decorating, pictures, knickknacks, whatever. For instance, one idea I had was to get a mannequin (small, bust size) and perhaps have one of my business t-shirts on it or some funny computer-ish shirt for sale. That sort of thing.

Thanks for any input-

I would think renting an office space would be a step up. You could improve your space but a basement is still a basement. It's never gonna look like a business. But that my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

i would use the mannakin but only with your business t-shirt. You are losing advertising space otherwise. I'm somehow guessing you are in the data recovery business :D so could you put up pics of beaten up drives/system you have recovered data for?

Maybe have a display showing a flowchart of a damaged drive arriving in, you working your magic and a cd at the end of the recovered data. Could be photographs or just some simple graphics.

Thanks for the replies. I'll work on manipulating artwork or something for the Data Recovery stuff.

I'd like a real store front too, but it's not going to happen :p
