Hay guys and gals, i have possibly an interesting one here.

So i get a laptop in from a client the fault was not an issues just solder on a new charge port/cable and a new CMOS battery.

So the issue well more of a head scratcher really while inspecting the motherboard after the repair i noticed a purple wire soldered to the motherboard hidden under some tape/sticker (See: Attached photos).

At first I thought it was a bios bridge but now I am not to sure, could anyone shed some light on this ... the laptop is a Toshiba A200-1AB. the customer said they have had it from new and they know nothing about it.

I am sure this is not from factory, any ideas as i am totally confused as to why this is here and what it is achiving

It's probably a manufacturing change order to fix an issue that showed up after the mobo was produced.

By looking at the solder job. it is ver uniform and I would say it was done by a machine. Very uniform and almost identical to the rest of the pcb.

To me it looks like they have a capacitor that needed some power (?). Perhaps they were having issues with some voltage level (?).

Little hard to tell but looks like its going to cap 572.

What is the voltage coming from it?
