I am setting up a Swann DVRV-4580V. I have setup the cameras and Device, though now the owner tells me he wants a monitor setup in his office. The Swan device is a distance away with the network cabinet. Would installing a HDMI wallplate near device and running a cable to another wallplate in his office be the best option, to connect to the monitor?

Thanks

Did you spec the Swann? I hope not, it won't last very long. The right way to do it is to use an HDMI extender if the distance is more than 10 meters or so, or you could use an active HDMI cable, or if it under 10 meters just use a good quality HDMI cable.

HDMI over Cat5.

Or if easy run run the HDMI but had to be under 75ft, otherwise use first

I've used a few HDMI over cat5/6 in the past and they work okay generally. I've had one fail, whereby it would lose sync and you would have to unplug the sender and plug it back in again for it to synchronise again. These units were replaced and worked perfectly again once more. Once the cables are in place, it at least makes it easy should that issue arise.

Lots of suggestions here, but the one that everyone overlooks is HomeSafe View. That's right. Install the software on a computer or the app on an iOS or Android device and view the cameras anywhere on the network, or remotely if you setup dynamic DNS and port forwarding. Oh, and it's free with no cables to run. Your welcome!

Yea I have that thanks, though this is going to be displayed just on a monitor. A system will not be connected to it. They don't want to view on phones. It for viewing of clients coming into office front door, monitor is located in back office.

I ordered a HDMI Extender as suggested by Mercenary.
