test backup images on vm

I think you can create an image with acronis and that vmware server can convert it or that their converter can. I'd look into that personally.

I don't know of any software that does that, though I'd love to find one. It would be ideal to image, confirm visually that all works well, AND have the option to push that image later onto a healthy drive.

Ok, done it.

What I did:

Used Macrium Reflect Free.

Created image of my system.
Converted image to vhd. Saved to another attached hd.
Inserted vhd into VirtualBox and configured appropriate settings.
Installed Guest additions. Ran VM.

Hey just wondering if you know of a free or paid program like clonezilla or redobackup etc.....to create a backup image of win and test in a vm program like virtualbox?

Regards,

HD CLONE will image to dynamic VHD or VMDK directly. No conversion required. Im using it here so I can bounce between mounted disks and VM

Thanks everyone. My main reason for this thread was to test out my back ups. Probably not 100% foolproof but none the less good for me.
