I saw an ancient rig recently that had bearshare - haha. Good times, man, good times.

If only it had Morpheus or Kazaa

adaware, spybot, dial a fix, spyblaster, and all the other fun tools. My user name is commodore64, so I remember them well. Hi-jack this too...lots of good memories. I still get an occasional customer using adaware, people always thought that software was virus proof! Ah....good times! Kazaa!!!! another oldie....lol. or even limewire!

I still use Hijack This every now and again - it's a nice simple tool that does the trick when I need it. Every so often I see a computer with Spybot Search and Destroy resident on it - that gets uninstalled and cleaned off right away. Looking in my old repair tools folder I still have old copies of things like AimFix, remember that one? It got rid of the AOL Instant Messenger bug . . .

WinMX was a "Gnutella" alternative. I think Gnutella was the first? file sharing program. When the Gnutella network stopped, WinMX came along just before we had Kazaa, Morpheus and others!
They are/were (as was mentioned) file sharing programs like uTorrent etc!

Just like most of the others, it's seems to me that they are investing much less resources into malware/spyware research. It's not a good cleaning tool anymore, in my opinion. Haven't used it to clean a machine in ages. Would be interested to know if any techs still use it to clean machines...

No, haven't used it for about 10 years or more. "Tea Timer" seems to be picked up by Antimalware tools more often than not.
