Just updated my Firefox to 131.0 and uBlock Origin remains.Firefox has removed UblockOrigin now.
Firefox has removed UblockOrigin now.
No they haven't, I installed it yesterday.Firefox has removed UblockOrigin now.
They removed UBlock Origin LITE!
Zero Trust world.
Yes... and??Popular ad blocker uBlock Origin Lite pulled from Firefox store
Due to a conflict with Mozilla, the add-on's developer has taken it off the Firefox Marketplace.www.pcworld.com
I stated that it was Lite after the OP.No they haven't, I installed it yesterday.
It's right here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
Still present, and still a recommended plugin.
Oh... I see:
They removed UBlock Origin LITE!
That's a different plugin, and I've never used that nor know enough about it to have an opinion.
*Edit*, Reddit discussion clearly shows on review Firefox realized they screwed up, and restored the plugin. But the author has kept it down in protest over Mozilla's plugin review process... which we rather have to have to keep the malware out of that library.
Ugly situation... I don't have a great solution for this. Reviews are annoying, but it seems the process worked as intended, and correctly. Accelerating it to reduce the burden on the author isn't terribly possible in a Zero Trust world. Author looks... infantile here.
Yes... I'm being slow today.I stated that it was Lite after the OP.
Yes same, I think the dev jumped quicker than Atari devs.Yes... I'm being slow today.
I still think the plugin author is being an infant. Mistakes in review procedures happen, and they are very much required for a reason.
Google Chrome and all other "Chromium" based browsers (including Edge, Brave, Arc etc) will not support uBlock Origin from next year (June 2025,) under Google's V3 Manifest.
It may continue to support Ublock Lite which is a hobbled and limited version that is V3 compliant.
Steve Gibson has a .reg edit that turns off the nag in Chromium based browsers and allows you to use uBlock Origin (and other V2 extensions) indefinitely (or until Skynet...er Google cotton on to it...)
I posted the link in my comment but here it is again. grc.sc/v2Can I find that link from grc.com? Couldn't find it on the podcast show notes. Just was curious. Thank you.
I couldn't imagine not using ublock at this point after using it for more than 10 years or so lol.
I posted the link in my comment but here it is again. grc.sc/v2
He did mention it at one point in the video. I think around 1:28:00?Yeah I got it...was just wondering where you found the link at to begin with...I didn't see it posted anywhere on that video show notes or on the grc.com site. I know that video was well over 2 hours long and I haven't had a chance to watch it all yet...maybe it was mentioned there within the video. No biggie was just curious. Thank you.
