I've been doing a lot of upgrades lately, XP/Vista to Win7 and a bulk of these have office installed as well.

I have no problem pulling the keys for these but it seems hit or miss when I try to reinstall office 2007+ on the fresh OS. The key simply isn't valid when entered into the installer. What's the cause of this any any way around it? Yes, I'm using the correct flavor of office (Home/Pro/Pro Plus/etc).

Thanks!

What are you using to pull the keys?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that at times, the gathered information from some of the keyfinder programs is simply wrong.

I think this maybe due to office being OEM, given away with the computer when new or the user bought it from a trial version installed by OEM. On the rare occasion I see this I just stick our corp version on and keep stum. Can't be bothered with hassle. Maybe find the tool to backup office activation.

I tested ZInstall on an old XP pro machine to a W7 Pro and a W8.1 machine. Pulled over office '07 just fine among other things. All I had to do was re-activate it, no key required. They are a sponsor on here so look for their link. You can get a 14 day trial of the full product no charge.

I think they actually called me the other week but I wasn't in the mood :) I'll check it out.
