Im looking to purchase a universal laptop adapter to use if my customers have forgotten/lost/broken their adapter...

Ive seen a few cases where cheap adapters have blown up, caused fires or melted onto the DC Jack, does anyone have any recommendations so I can avoid these potential problems :D

OOOoooooooohhhhh~!!! let me tell you my favorite!

I use a SPI (Sparkle Power Inc) Slim 65W (peaks 90W).
Has 15/16/18/19/20/21 volt adjustments.
Did i mention it looks pretty?
I use this one like a religion. never had one problem with the 10 or so I have bought over the past year. And I would prefer this to some of the crap that the retailers give out. Great price too
Bought at Frys for $50!

and it comes with it's own carry bag..slim design too!
Here is a video on it! I want to sell these bad boys!:D

I bought one from Maplin and have been very happy with it. It does various voltages between 15 & 24v & every connector you can think of. It's on special offer at £44.99 at the moment.

Thanks for the replies, but I have just purchased the IGO Slim 90W adapter from (im ashamed to say) Currys, was £44.56 and you can purchase extra adapters too which might come in handy.

The adapter is not for customer use its mainly for me so when I go to the office I dont have to carry 2 or 3 different chargers, also it will be handy when units come in and they think their power supply is busted.

I usually stick with Targus. As stated above, if you buy it retail (BestBuy, Walmart, Staples, etc) it can be a bit pricey. Around $90 in this neck of the woods. Normally I buy it from an online retailer for around $70. I have personally been using one for 3 years and never had a problem with it.

I did see the Targus but liked the look of the IGO, has auto power off too to save energy.

Im very pleased, as the RRP is £69.99 with the cheapest I found it online being £55 but obviously will probably be cheaper in the US, especially now your $ is getting stronger against the £. :(

I have to say I love my Targus. It fits almost every machine that comes in. I originally paid $65 or so for it from Office Depot about 2 years ago but i can pick it up from my distributor for about $30 now. The model is a Targus APA10us.

+1 for the newer Slim Targus adapters. They give you a coupon code to get all the necessary tips for free.
