Has anyone here found any Computer cases that are essentially Water/Weather Proof. We have a client that has a Desktop PC by their pool, and with the kids constantly splashing, it has already gotten wet twice, and we are looking for a better case/solution.

Moving the PC is not really an option at this time. The PC is somewhat sheltered, but it still isn't waterproof enough.

Thanks Guys!

A Pelican case would be worth a look. They're heavy duty, with a pretty heavy duty price tag, but the kids could throw it in the pool and it would stay dry (as long as it's shut...)

Other than creating something "MacGuyver" like....modifying some large Igloo cooler or something with an intake/exhaust...or doing some large zip lock bag trickery with intake/exhaust....I don't know what would be "budget friendly" for a home user.

Google "Industrial PC Enclosures" to see what professional products cost. I suppose one could spend some time on ebay...and find something below 1,000 bucks.

Industrial PCs

There are actually a ton of waterproof industrial PCs out there that are IP-rated to ensure reliability in wet/dusty/corrosive environments. For your application, IP65 should be more than sufficient. Performance levels will be somewhat limited, as sealed fanless systems can usually only dissipate up to ~25W; this means Atom and Fusion. And they're not cheap, but nothing waterproof ever is (checked waterproof enclosures for cameras lately?).

A good start would be a GW-01 IP67 system. If you need a monitor or waterproof input (touchscreen, on-screen keyboard) as well, a sealed panel PC like the SR101 would do the trick. You'll have to google them as I don't have permission to post links yet.

Let me know what you need for I/O and performance and I'll see what else is out there.

I'm not aware of any 'cases', therefor I would suggest that you go with a custom made box to put the 'computer' into and mount the door to the box and a large fan on the opposite side of where the water would be splashed from.
3/8" or 1/2" red oak would look good if stained/varnished.

I thought about this for a little while. I thought about humidity, bugs seeking heat, the whole water splash issue...

first idea that popped in my head and let me get this out of the way right now
(DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS NOR HAVE I EVER TRIED ANYTHING SIMILAR)

Humidity should go straight down to the bottom of the tank, bugs won't get in, water not likely to get in with that type of lid.

*shrugs* should work
