Webroot blocking internet access

Hello all. I am sure you all are well aware of so called security apps causing connectivity problems but I thought I'd share this anyways. Webroot (expired mind you) was blocking wireless internet connectivity on a customers laptop. While troubleshooting I noticed that the windows firewall was turned off so I turned it back on and noticed that upon reboot the firewall was off again. Immediately I suspected malware and did a quick and crucial points scan with SAS and also a scan with TDSSkiller both of which turned up clean. After uninstalling Webroot (I believe it was webroot internet security) I am able to "surf the web" . Just thought I'd share. From now on this will be one of the first things I look for when a customer has connectivity issues. Thanks

IMO, Webroot IS malware. PITA POS.

I've heard of Webroot causing this problem before; it seems to be pretty poor software. At our shop we always recommend Kaspersky and have yet to hear any complaints

I've seen expired Norton do the same thing

Webroot’s has had its day, it got worse as other products got better

I used webroot before and it did have its day but after a while im not really sure what happened to it.

+1 for Kaspersky.
