Firstly, I'm looking for constructive criticism for our current site. We get around 40-50 unique visitors a day on average and our bounce rate is 48%. However, we're not converting that many of the visitors into jobs and we're not sure why. Work certainly seems to have died off and we're not sure if the site has anything to do with it.

I'd appreciate any feedback about the site and details of what would put you off coming to us and why. Whether it's to do with the content of the site, the impression you get about the company or errors in the way the page loads/runs.

Also, could someone with IE8 please load the page and tell us what happens? We've tried using IETester, but it throws up errors using IE9 in IETester. When I use IE9 outside of IETester, there are no errors. Because of this, we can't trust IETester and the errors it reports.

Our site can be seen here - www.bristolcomputerrepair.co.uk

Thanks :)

Open IE9 and
Go to tools --> F12 Developer tools --> Click where it says browser mode and select IE8.

There you go :)

I'd put what you actually do above the fold. So integrate those 8 little panels (virus removal, home support, etc) into the slider image somehow.

And pop a couple of your best testimonials up there too.

Maybe put Computer Repairs in Bristol between the logo and the Remote Support Tool button.

And, as always, nice BIG phone number.

Nice site though Simmy :)

Thats an awesome tip!

I too had been using IETester and found it to be a little quirky at times.

Thank You VERY Much!

Simon

Overall I think its a great looking site. Simple, easy to nav and understand. I really only gave it a quick once-through but saw no problems in IE9, Firefox, or Chrome.

Out of curiosity, where did you get your images from? Were they part of the template (I'm assuming it was a template)?

@tf76 - Great tip. I also was unaware of the IE8 mode inside there. Thanks!

No problems guys :)

If you want to, say thanks by adding reputation to me.

Not sure if forum users are still doing this

Regards,

Your Call to action is missing. Most people need to know what to do next in 5 seconds or less. You have to look really hard to find the phone number.

I for one found your tip very useful.
I'd be happy to tip my hat to you and add to your technibble reputation.
I've just not figured out how to do that yet

I'll be happy to do so once i know how!

Edit: Nevermind - I just searched the FAQ's - I haven't been around long enough to have this feature enabled yet.

Regards,

Simon.

Just click on the little scales icon on the upper right-hand side of the post and follow instructions. I use it often when I get real help/support. Feel free to +1 me as well if you would :p

BTW, the site is looking very clean, very clear and easy on the eyes.

I appologize OP!

The excellent tip regarding IE7/8 mode side tracked me and i didn't actually leave a review of your new site, so here goes...

Overall your site is superb!
I love the colour scheme and layout.

I'm just going to echo points that others have already made as I wasn't able to find any other flaws.

Make your phone number more prominent like above the two orange buttons and give a call to action! "Call Today!" For example.

I'd put what you actually do above the fold. So integrate those 8 little panels (virus removal, home support, etc) into the slider image somehow.

And pop a couple of your best testimonials up there too.

Those are some really good suggestions, worth contemplating!

I don't think your website has anything to do with a slow down in business. It's clean, easy to navigate and pleasing to the eye.
There are most likely other factors at play.

Regards,

Simon.
