This is coming off another rant thread, just curious what kind of printers do you use. did you buy it new, used. you know the fun facts to put :)

Printer:HP OJ K5400
Price: $75 display model
Ink: New $110 ($0.08pp), Refill $60 ($0.05pp)
Page Yield: 1400 pages
Use: All my color printing
Thoughts: FAST on the Best setting it shoots pages out at 28ppm, I mean it shoots them out the little lip broke off from the force of the paper so now I have a ghetto fix so I don't get a mess. I would recommend this or its newer models to anyone who dont mind inkjet printers personally the color isn't to vivid to my eye as a laser, could be the graphic designer eye I have. But overall a beast of a machine 2 years in running (3 if you cant display life), it is a mad fast and reliable machine.

Printer: HP PS Premium w/ Fax
Price:$125 New
Ink: New $115, Refill $50
Page Yield: 250 pages, 125 pictures
Use: Any Photos, My wife uses it the most
Thoughts: Very Very nice photos from a home printer. My wife loves it I try to buy the ink bulk because shes a picture-holic. It has had 14 pages printed from it, and 173 pictures in its month I have owned it. I would recommend this to someone who wants a very very good photo 4 in 1 printer with wifi

Printer: Samsung Laser ML-1630
Price: $45 Display
Ink: New $72 ($0.04pp) Refill $25 ($0.015pp)
Page Yield: 1900 pages
Use: All my black and white stuff
Thoughts: Small it does about 17ppm, I got it for the size is about 5 inches tall, the tray only olds about 75 sheets so I need to refill it all the time. But again out of all the machines I was looking at in that price range this was the most reliable, and its cheaper for me to print all my BW stuff then getting it done, last I checked Xerox charges $0.03 a page if you rent their machine.

Epson NX415 with CISS
paid $50 refurbished + $22 CISS off ebay
the USB interface broke so I can only use it as a copier for my flyers.
yield: It came with 100ml ink in each color, doesn't look like I will see the bottom of it soon. I think I can get about 1000 page before it goes out.

Epson Workforce 600
paid $72 refurbished from Amazon marketplace + $20 refillable compatible cartridge off ebay
I had the intention to put the CISS above into this one, didn't work. The inkjet has 3 stuck lines that I can't get away, since I broke off the carriage to install CISS. I have to caulk this one up as a loss and only use it for light printing. This one is very very fast compared to all other printers I used... too bad it broke like that.

From this experience, next time I would make sure to prime the printers with authentic ink first before trying to use any off brand stuff. I think the initial charge with non-OEM ink caused the jets to be stuck.

Brother HL 4050CDN
$440 from office depot
networked
original color carts just died. but i reset them via the control panel. I have probably 500 pages left before I really have to replace them.

Its a little slow waking up from power save mode.
everyone in the house prints to it.
It replaced a HP LJ1200 that I used for years.
Duplexing is nice. I don't think i'll ever go back to a printer without it.
Heavy, about 70 ~ 75 lbs
the MP tray is kinda flimsy but i only use it on the rare occasion I have to print on bond or envelope.

I use Xerox Phaser 8560. I got this printer Free. (The catch is that you must print a certain # of pages per month and buy the color ink from the site; Black ink is Free) After 3 years you no longer need to meet any print minimums.
Solid Ink Printer (ink is made of a wax substance)
Duplex printing and it's pretty fast.

This is a great printer. I have had mine since 2002.

I've got a canon IP4600 and a CISS I got from ebay been running the CISS for ove 2 months and not needed to refill. Only issue I have is that it's an ink jet and does not give as good a finish as a laser when it comes to printing professional invoices.

However my invoices are in excel just now so there is nothing professional about them!

hp laserjet 4p (b&w) - over half a million pages. <- i don't remember.
hp laserjet 2690 color - maybe a thousand pages. $900 @ office max
hp laserjet 6L (b&w) - 4000 pages. <- i don't remember.
IBM proprinter 2380 dot matrix - just for stuff i want to keep together like code.
(i got 20 ribbons on ebay... so who cares... plus i love the noise it makes.)
There's a thing up there, some sort of scanner, fax, printer, pie maker device, let me get the name of it just a sec. It's a lexmark x63 but i just use it for faxing. It's a piece of junk. But the lasers? never a problem. I've thrown away hp color printers b/c they were inkjet and inkjet is junk.

Here's the thing. I owned a bunch of inkjet printers and they all sucked. I've owned cannon, hp, lexmark, etc. inkjet drinks $$$. You can get a brand new laser for $99 and print thousands of sheets on 1 toner cartridge in perfect clarity so why waste your money or your time. Buy a laser.

Thoughts: good printer but mainly used for personal use

Printer: Samsung SCX4824FN
Price:£120 factory display unit
Ink: £60 for a remanufactured cartridge

* if you don't know, many of the printers have a page counter they can print out on their diag sheet when you run diagnostics. If you do know, then please don't get mad at me, lol.

I have known this offer for a long long time, so while meeting the printing requirements (I imagine just printing your promotion flyer would suffice), how much did you spend on your consumables per year?
