What should clients use if they want the absolute best protection against viruses?

Sounds interesting
Would like to hear more about the process though. Would you like to share some details?

I've got a few clients who are very vulnerable to infection by viruses, malware, etc. I've already talked to them about their online practices, but it seems that they don't want to change: they still visit risky websites.

I appreciate the extra income, but I'd rather do something drastic so that the risk of viruses and malware is lowered to the minimum.

Which browser should the customers use? What settings should be modified in order to prevent viruses and malware without disabling other commonly used plug-ins such as Java and Flash?

I always recommend Firefox, without any special modifications, but they still get malware infections.

Thanks in advance.

Unless they 100% MUST have something that will ONLY work in Windows ... push them over to Linux. No viruses, no malware, nothing of the sort. And no slowdown to avoid it.

The vast majority of clients wouldn't understand linux if you switched them over to it and if you tried you'd spend the next 6 months answering questions. "Switch to linux" is not a valid fix for the average client...

For an "Internet and Solitaire" only computer for a grandmother she took right to it. First computer she ever touched. Put PCLinuxOS on it with a big icon for "Internet" (Firefox), email (Thunderbird with a presetup Gmail account I made for her) and a menu for games and she never looked back.

Typical case? Probably not. She died last year and her family thanked me for setting her up where she could talk with some relatives she didn't usually talk to because of distance.

Level of support required? I had to setup a printer once for her a month after she got into it and was getting emails from ladies at church with jokes on them.
