I need a simple 5GHz outdoor access point, but it looks like Ubiquiti's product line has changed since I last bought one. There is no cover, it's a company's outdoor "lounge" area and the AP will be mounted to the outside wall of the building.

Would you use the LAP-GPS-US? How about the LTU-LR-US? Something I've missed?

The UAP-AC-PRO is also "weather resistant"...since it's meant to be mounted under a ceiling, the flat belly that faces up won't accumulate rain. And it comes with a soft rubber insert to "seal up" where the ethernet cables would plug in...so it's quite "officially" weather resistant. But it can't be drenched like the above ones can.

Ok, I think I get it, thanks. The LAP model I referenced is intended for wireless bridging not specifically as an access point. Silly me, I followed the product description that says "Access Point".

yeah those are under the "airMax" family...which are for "point to point" and "point to multi point" connections...short to medium range and medium capacity. And then they have their big brothers, the airFiber family...meany for longer range point to point and higher capacity links.

The model you stated says "access point"...because in "point to point" and "point to multi point" links...the primary "top" one is the AP. The receiving units...end points...are CPE.

Oh great, access point ≠ access point - that's not confusing at all! :)

I'll presume Ubiquiti didn't invent that terminology, so I guess I'll cut them a break. CPE = Customer Premises Equipment? More alphabet soup.
