My customer purchased Windows 7 ESU from Synnex CSP last month to extend support for their current Windows 7 environment. They will replace these systems later this year. In the meantime, they would like to use Windows 7 ESU.

We followed the guide for prerequisite of Windows 7 ESU as well the steps to change the product key to Windows 7 ESU product key from this Microsoft tech community blog . However, we are getting the following error,

"0xc004f050 the software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid"

Synnex confirmed the product key they issued is valid. We opened multiple support tickets with Microsoft but none of them know a clue about Windows 7 ESU. As a matter of fact when we called the main Microsoft number, they'll say Windows 7 is no longer supported. SMH o_O.

Has anyone experience the same issue like our customer?

Not that what I'm about to write is of the "anyone had an experience" with this specific issue, but I've had similar.

If you call and get a tech who's clueless about Windows 10 ESU, then immediately request to talk to a supervisor. When the supervisor also claims to be clueless then "later, rinse, repeat" working your way up the chain.

Microsoft has to have a small, dedicated team for ESU, and they are selling it. Customers have to make it abundantly clear that if they're paying the fees for this that Microsoft must provide support, and prompt support, for it. Escalating as quickly as possible is generally the route to getting the attention of the right folks when the front lines are hopelessly uninformed.

Since this is a specialized product there has to be a support team dedicated to it.
