I have a machine with windows 7 home premium oem coa sticker. the installed windows is Ultimate and apparently got deactivated during an attempted win 10 upgrade. there is no recovery partition and no discs. can i use a standard iso to reinstall and use the oem key?

Yep. Should work fine. The worst I've had lately is on some "Refurbishers" copies of Win7 to play the telephone number game.....

Recap: Desktop with Win7 HP OEM COA sticker. Win 7 Ultimate installed. Attempted Win 10 upgrade failed and deactivated the Win 7 installation.

1. Attempted a N&P of Win 10 using the latest ISO and activated using the OEM COA key but it wouldn't activate.
2. Installed all updates including 1511 but still refused to activate. error code 0xc004f050.
3. N&P again using Win 7 Home Premium OEM as per the sticker. This activated.
4. Perform Win 10 upgrade from aforesaid ISO. This also activated.
5. WSUS updates all good.

6. SDI. Magnificent!

Had the same issue with my personal rig when upgrading to Windows 10, what a pain.
