Hey guys/gals

I have a small situation here with windows vista 32bit. After installing a fresh copy of vista 32bit home premium its tell me that the key is invalid even though its the genuine key that's written under the laptop. Its asking to buy a new key which is wired. There is also a recovery partition but it not working for sum reason. The HP recovery manager is not recognizing the recovery partition. Any Ideas how to fix this problem?????

The CD Key is written under the laptop (which make it 100% Genuine) because it didn't come with any cd's that's why there is a recovery partition but it's not working....

Try installing the Vista service packs first. If your license key is for Vista SP1, and you are trying to activate it on Vista without SP1, it will come back as invalid.

I have had the same issue in the past, but once I installed the Service Packs, it accepted the key no problem.

I just finish installing all the service packs for vista 32bit home premium and I keep getting the same error message (windows activation error code 0xC004E003)

Also its says Code: 0xC004E003 Description: The software licensing service reported that license evaluation failed.

I'll give it a try to see what happens but the system didn't come with an OEM disk. Only a recover partition.... and it not working vista cannot detect it nor the recovery manager... I'll keep you posted.

Error message when you try to activate a copy of Windows Vista: "The Software Licensing Service reported that the license evaluation failed: 0xC004E003"

Try this, and take the phone Option, and hold on for a real person to explain to:

Activation FAQs at above link.

1. Click Start, and in the Search box type: slui.exe 4

2. Press ENTER on your Keyboard

3. Select your Country.

4. Take thePhone Activation option, and hold on for a real person.mm

If locked out except for 3 choices, use the reduced functionality option to get into Windows to do the above Activation.

I take it you entered the activation key when you were installing the os. if so try going to control pannel and open system icon, then click on change product key and re enter the same activation key again and then click on activate now.

I have seen a number of these in the past couple of weeks. I tend to used a Vista Ultimate CD for all installations, which activated just fine until last week and now will not longer do so - telling me that the "product key is already in use". Phone activation would not work and MS personnel would not assist - referring me back to the oem.

In all cases I solved it by doing the steps below -

1. In an ELEVATED command prompt window, type the following

slmgr.vbs -ipk <insert your product key here including dashes> <Press Enter>

2. Then type

slmgr.vbs -ato <Press Enter>

3. If this does not work immediately, retry phone activation. You should now have a new installation ID which the system will accept as valid.

HTH

EDIT: Just to be clear, in each case I was using the OEM product key from the COA attached to the machine.

Google the model number
under drivers and downloads
look for recovery cds/dvds
order them for $25'

problem solved yo.

Seriously, this happens with HP's a lot. You have to use an OEM HP/Compaq Disk.

Ok guys here is the update:

I used this tool called super grub disk. Basically it helps computers with boot problems boot up correctly, so seeing that I had problems booting in Hp recovery partition it help me boot into it giving me the ability to restore the system to factory settings.

here is the link to that tool http://www.supergrubdisk.org/

Thank you all for helping now problem solved..

If you are installing fresh using the COA from the sticker on the machine you have to use either the original manufacturer disk (most don't have this) OR use an OEM disk.

When I first started out this was one of the first things that boggled my mind.

I now have these images on my server(because disks get damaged so easily, this way I just burn it again):
XP Home OEM
XP Home Retail
XP Home Upgrade
ect ect
