0x7b after rootkit removal

yes the drive acts normal when I slave it, but when I try to boot to it, it doesnt work. I opened up a partition manager from hirens and it shows 0 bytes of data on the mbr block, but shows the mbr block there. Just no data it seems..

OK - Here is what I got, after toying around with different partition programs from the hirens disk. I was able to restart the computer and boot to last known good configuration. I am going to try do fixboot, fixmbr, etc. and hopefully it works.

I will be back soon to advise! Thanks for the tips, it seems we are getting somewhere now@!

Ok if this makes any sense.....I can boot into windows every time now without a problem, but when I try to use the windows recovery console from the disk, it still doesnt see my hard drive LMFAO.

I guess its fixed in the sense that it will boot to windows, but I am unsure how to make sure that its not going to happen again.

you make sure that you are runing bootice from live system and not from cd.
in bootice go to 'process mbr' -> select 'windows nt 5.x mbr' -> press 'install/config'
it should work

i tried that and can still boot into windows, however recovery console still gives me the blue screen....

Hopefully I can run some sfc /scannow and maybe chkdsk to clear it up.
