Any free remote support software which we can use?

Another 'semi'-freebie is 'impcremote'. (I call it a semi-freebie as the producers' website says use of product is free for commercial or business, but asks that you buy license if 'if it meets your approval or you would like to use it on many computers') They have instant versions (simply run without a traditional/persistent install), and, a Pro version, where technician installs a manager version, with a console listing of assorted computers linked to his/her password protected account. Manager version requires quickie registration with valid email, and setup/entry of password into manager console)

Details of assorted versions available at :

http://remote-control-desktop.com/

I tested both instant and Pro versions briefly, seems to work ok, unsure of whether or not a certain amount of client computers registered/linked to a given console in Pro version will trigger license demands, etc., but, website does not mention a trial period or limits, so, might find yourself in an ethical dilemma if you like it and are accessing 100 clients with it. :) The Pro version does allow unattended connects as long as client has not disabled/stopped the service (After a bit more research, the number of clients for free version might be limited to 5 computers, if I am reading their chart correctly) Cost is $29/year per active connection, so, if wish to control 2 screens at once, need two licenses, etc...)

Edit: Might have been just a glitch, but , it might matter what order the client/tech-mngr comes up in; twice in my testing, I had stop/restart the service in the client for connection to be successful, which would certainly limit the 'unattended access' usefulness, but, I will experiment further when time permits, and, to see if this issue is persistent, recurring, or repeatable in testing. (I am testing with Win7 controlling Win XP in a VirtualBox thru Oracle VM, so, is possible few would even see this potential issue

NOTE: for users of free 360 Total Security, and , perhaps a few other AV products as well, this product will trigger a few AV/trojan alarms when downloading/installing, but, I saw nothing bundled get installed, and no mysterious processes running after testing....

Very interesting, will give it a try.

It's VNC-based, so those with an aversion to VNC will likely be disappointed.

It's VNC based, using either a central repeater or self-hosted repeater. The Linux version uses ssvnc (which I use myself). Testing between my workstation and a VBox Windows, it's slow.

There is nothing here which can't be done (for free) with UltraVNC Single-Click, but it is packaged and ready to go. If you configure UVNC-SC for a direct connection, rather than using a repeater, it's much quicker than imPcRemote.

AeroAdmin is reminiscent of Ammyy...in appearance and basic function anyway...

However, I am finding their unattended access setup to be a nightmare. For some reason, the pgm. is asking me for a password that I do not have. Why make it this difficult?!?!? :(

Are you sure it is not merely asking you to set up the access password for the computer you are at now? (That password would need to be entered for any AeroAdmin user to access that system..)

I'm not really sure you can have what I'd consider true unattended access, as the AeroAdmin application is not persistent through a reboot...; although it remembers the settings, upon reboot, it is no longer running, and I do not see 'install as a service' equivalent as an option.

Edit: They do outline the option of unattended access by scheduling AeroAdmin to run as a task upon startup, details below....

The password prompt turned out to be a permissions issue on the Win 8 system I was working with. I got that part sorted out.

And, you can set it up to run it as unattended, i.e. it will run after a reboot. The problem is, when this program is set to autostart with windows, it actually loads the login window in the center of the screen every time windows starts, and that is a pain for the end user to have to close it every time it is not needed.

I have attempted to set it to run minimized, in the systray, etc.,. and nothing I do will stop the main window from loading front and center... o_O

I may play with it a bit more when I have some free time to see if I can get it to start minimized.

Hi, Have you tried Supremo http://www.supremocontrol.com/ (i used the free version supremofree before and had no problems). They have now moved to a paid version but for a solo tech its €98 per year.

Secc
Tried it (Supremo), seems to work well in fact....(late seeing this product, so late in commenting, but, better late than never!)

Can be installed as a service (but does not need to be installed at all, 3 mb quick download for client or tech), can be setup with password, assorted clients can be entered into address book with password pre-entered for single-click connection ease; seemed to work as well as Ammy or AeroAdmin, albeit at a low/ moderate cost, easy to use for both client and tech.....

I have a new business client that is slightly out of my catchment area. I could do with being able to remote in to to save unnecessary trips to sort out basic problems.

Something like Mikago will do the trick but it is about £150 a year which is a lot of money when I hardly need to use it.

I want something very similar that the customer can simply download a tiny file to let me join their session.

So any cheaper or free alternatives for commercial use?
Splashtop would work for you more than likely. It is $60 a year for an unlimited amount of computers and you can organize them into groups and transfer files. It has got to be the best deal out there. I have been using it for quite sometime without issues. http://www.splashtop.com/business
