Calling All ANDROID Based Phone Users

What are people using on there Android devices to RDP into clients machines?

Pocketcloud is awesome. It does RDP, VNC and it's own brand of remote. The best thing about it is the controls. The paid version is really worth it.

I use the following:

Wifi manager (so I can see if their wifi is accessable)
Wifi Teather (to see if their machine can connect to wifi)
I use both of these togeather to diagnose wifi issues.

I also use

Zoho invoice app (until I either move to PCRT fully or I write my own)
Newegg
eBay
Square up (I LOVE this app)
Google voice (love being able to read my voicemail, and I also have my business number as my GV number and forward it to my cell and office depending on the time of day)

Been a while since this thread was updated, but I think there's potential for more interesting conversation on this topic, so bumping/reviving with some favourite apps. Hoping other android phone users will do the same.

sweet home wifi (awesome)
- phone detects home wifi network and switches across from 3/4g ... waits for charger to be inserted, and once inserted uploads all photos from both devices to PC via local wifi network. I was using manual sync but this is so much easier. Pretty much every second day (when I plug it in) it uploads everythying from my and my wife's handsets. Very handy.

PCI database
- really useful to have DEV and VEN info on a separate device. A quick and easy reference for finding drivers

GO launcher EX
- My Samsung Galaxy (first series) doesnt have the eye candy HTC provide on my wife's new Incredible S. This app gives lots more nice stuff to look at. Heaps of options and features.

DESKSMS (awesome)
I freaking LOVE this app. Basically when Im in the office ALL my SMS contacts go through Gtalk (fits on same page as GMAIL interface or standalone desktop app). Whats the advantage?

1. keeps a record of ALL SMS correspondence with clients in gmail cloud
2. allows me to use a REAL KEYBOARD instead of the stupid keyboard on the android (im a mobile phone typing retard - you can probably tell) :) from a productivity standpoint this saves me heaps of time every day.

SWIFTKEY
My Galaxy S came with a really lame keyboard, and because of my typing limitations, adding this made a whole world of difference to my pitiful ability to send messages. One of its really cool features is that it 'learns' messages you commonly type, so you can do them with just a few key presses instead of typing everything else. (from what I have seen a lot of other Android devices come with a decent keyboard at the outset, so maybe the need to upgrade is just with some handsets?)

Thats it for now. Hoping others might chip in.

Whats your current favourite "cant live without" app on your android phone?

Some have been mentioned before, but for remote access I use team viewer, logmein, and have started using splash top.
We also use Chat On for free messaging between android and iOS devices.

wifi calling is great when I'm in the basement server room in a building I take care of, and SkyDrive browser to access the free 25gigs from MS , and its nice to have access to thousands of songs on google music in the cloud.

I also have found Faceniff (facebook/twitter hijacker) is useful to show a client (with permission) how easy it is sto have your account hacked. Then I show them how to enable HTTPS and to avoid public wifi.

Droidsheep is another similar app.

Airdroid

Best thing I have seen to manage an android phone with a PC (runs from a web browser, so no software to install on the PC end - ie you can run it on any machine on the same network as the phone)

Is there anything like that for the iPhone? I did a brief search but did not come up with anything.

Im not too sure if this app has been mentioned, but I use K9 Mail on a daily basis. Awesome for checking and sending emails on the go and its a fairly light app aswell.

So can we get this as a sticky in the forum, under technicians only :)

Suggest maybe a list of apps under the most common mobile devices in categories.

Regards,

I would like to setup something similar to keep clients txt communications, how have you got this setup with google talk etc, don't worry if its too massive a thing to talk through on here, just some pointers would be appreciated though.

Airdroid that was mentioned earlier has the functions of texting from your pc, but playing with it i dont see any way of archiving sms.

Tasker is amazing. I haven't even touched the surface but right now I'm using it to do things like:

-Turn on bluetooth when disconnected from my work wifi and turn it off when it reconnects. (unless in a call)
-Run a custom alarm when I get specific e-mails in K9 Mail based on subject or sender. (service requests)
