Canon Printer Driver needed

Just had to replace a hard drive on a customer's machine and nothing was recoverable from it. They have a Canon Pixma iP2200 printer so off I went to the Canon website to download the required driver, but it's not there. The only thing available from Canon is a "Driver add-on module" and corresponding text that reads:

This product is a module that expands the functionality of the printer driver for Canon Inkjet printers as included in Windows Vista and 7.

The OS is Windows 7 (can't remember offhand if it's 32 or 64-bit) and the above text would imply that Win 7 already has built-in drivers that should work for this printer but it's not happening. The computer just doesn't recognise or work with the printer, hence my search for a driver. My usual 'go to' tool for this is Snappy Driver Installer but that doesn't appear to have the necessary thing either. Any ideas where to find said driver or how to make the apparently integrated Win 7 driver work?

I just checked a W7 Pro machine and it has one for ip2500. Did you try that one?

To be honest Mark, I can't remember now. Their flavour of Win 7 is Home Premium so if it's there, I will give it a try.

I wasn't aware that SDI included drivers for printers. I thought it was primarily (computer) hardware-related drivers.

It doesn't seem to matter if the O/S is 32bit or 64bit.

Yeah long disco'd model....
Have the computer hitup MIcrosoft Updates for more drivers, and then it should product a list....Canon Inkjet IP models (with a ton listed)..and scroll down further and you'll see Canon IP models listed. Try the 2000 or 2600.....may not have a native one for the 2200.

As a last resort you could always try to force in the XP one (32 bit of 64 bit..depending on what your Win7 is)...you can still get those from Canons site.

I don't know if SDI includes drivers for printers or not Altster, I just thought it was worth a try when I couldn't make any headway by other means. It detected that a driver was needed but said it wasn't present in driverpacks.

I just happened to be downloading a buncha drivers from Canons site....while reading this post.....I'm deploying a few LC600 units at a client.
Took the time to piddle around in the site for that Pixma. Plus I seem to recall that model as I have an insurance agency client that I'm pretty sure had that model a few years ago and I ran into that issue when he retired his last XP machines....he basically had to get a newer model.

If you see options for the UFR II drivers...try those first...those are sort of their equiv of HP's Universal Print Driver.
