Favorite type of job

My favorite is building computers, very relaxing. Next is setting up and installing servers. You can really stick your teeth into doing server setups.

Swapping out PSUs. When I worked for the school system, the custom builds would all fail after a big storm. We'd spend all day swapping them out. It's easy, fast, and strangely fun. I also like the dangle them and pretend I'm holding a Ghostbuster trap thing afterwards.

Hahha, nice one "what we have here is a Class A Dustzerg infestation!" ok ladies stand away :)

I like networking issues, makes me think more.

I think the best is when I can learn something new, incorporate a new process or new tool (thanks to everyone on TN) and see the improvement in my efficiency.

Next would be laptop hardware repair. Technical but manual as well.

haha.... Laptop screen replacements~!

Easy, quick, great money. If I could do these all day every day, I would be a rich man indeed.

1. Definitely my favorite money maker!

2. The MSP I have people on (very hands off)

3. having 4-5 virus removal jobs simultaneously. After testing the hardware I put my Instant Housecall on them and work on them from Windows tablet while watching TV with family. Not to mention half the time I don't even have to meet the client.

My favorite is receiving a dead laptop (no power) and stripping it down to find out why it failed and if it's worth fixing. Opening up one that I haven't seen before is a challenge that is both relaxing and entertaining as I make sketches for screw placement and notes for future reference. The most fun are old XP-vintage (pre-2006), I will clean the fans and heatsink if I do not have any pending jobs or while doing malaware clean-ups.

Building a new custom desktop. Ordering all the parts and putting together a new machine, delivering it to the client. Awesome.

Removing spyware/adware, force removing Norton and installing a solid anti-virus, fast...not much work...client is happy.

Love screens at the shops, laptops, tablets, phones.... Otherwise bad HDDs are fast.

Personally I like my commercial wprk , when you finish a remodel on a fast food joint or big box store.... Always a good time.

I really enjoy hardware diagnostics with difficult machines. Don't make much money from it, but when I'm otherwise flush or when I just want something to relax with, I take in a system that's going to take awhile and work on the motherboard, etc.

I am about to start it now. A VERY wealthy client just asked me to build him another computer. Been doing this with him for many years. He gave me almost no budget and wants the best of the best. His personal computer, this is fun!

Wow that is fun!! ^ What kinda processor are you thinking of getting for the build?

Got a client last night that gave me a call, said she wants me to help her setup her business. Gonna need new computers and help her wit transferring the data from the old to the new one. Also she needs help with learning how to use her iPad and iPhones better. She always pays well, so I was glad to hear from her.

My favorite is setting up a business client with their first server. Especially if they're running spread sheets on shared computers or jockeying a thumb drive around or something. Getting them setup properly is just so satisfying. Plus, I make money.

Also I really like getting people off of POP mail and onto my hosted server with IMAP. WOW! Delete it from the computer and its gone on the phone??!
