Not looking for help, just a yes or no, done some reaseach but cant conlude anything.
I have just changed a power supply in a computer and have connected eveything, swiched on and the graphic card is making a high pitched screeching noice, does this mean one of the caps are blown and the graphics card is nacked, customer did not say that were was a problem with the graphics card, and i know its the graphics card because when i take it out, it boots fine.

Okay i am a dumbass, i thought i had connected the cable to the power supply but did'nt, feeling stupid right now Ha Ha, i give you permission to take the piss, any ways it still does not boot up with the graphics card in, it tries to boot up and then shuts back down within a second or two.
so i am off to buy another graphics card.

It's another "stream of consciousness" post, which is bear bate around here. We're all sitting back waiting for you to get clawed to death, but the mods have been ruthless and lacking a sense of humour, so nobody's biting.

Why would i get slammed, i asked a question on something i did not know, but found out the answer because i forget to connect a cable, is this such a crime, are techs not allowed to make a silly mistake. bring it on, i can take it, i fear nobody.

It's not a crime to make a mistake. We're all, presumably, human.

A week ago you would have been slammed almost instantly for asking, essentially: "The graphics card squeals, the computer boots without it. Is it bad?"

Surely, from that, you can see why it'd be a "dumb" question. But, see...we're being gentler today. I'm reading more into your question, in that you're asking if bad caps could cause it to squeal.

So, to that question; Yes. It's possible that a graphics card could squeal as a result of power problems, including bad capacitors. Even if the customer didn't mention video problems before his power problems, the power supply could have caused damage to the card in the last second of its life.

Thank you, i was thinking maybe the power supply has damaged the graphics card, have tried another and is fine, its the first time i have seen a damaged graphics card due to the power supply.

Yeah until you lose control and start cursing everyone out again.

Dont need to, i am a better person than that, you can say what you want, want bother me in the slightest, i know i am good at what i do, business is busy, customers are happy and thats what matters.
