yeap, sorry another one of those. I have a client whom has a house (that is a bonus :p ). The main house if about 400Metres away from the Shed they have outside. The Power is on different conduits so using adapters or repeaters is a no.

I am totally inexperienced with Mesh systems, Point to Point Access etc. I really want to get into this though. As have had many of these and subbed them out as was, anxious me just stress out.

I need to go to residence for another reason so am going to map out area, identify any black spots or obstructions. Was wondering what would be the best solution from Wifi inside the residence to beam to the shed for wifi.

Sorry for my ignorance, I am thinking of just purchasing some equipment to test in my own residence first. Just so I don't look like a knob when I go out onsite. As long range networking is not my main strength.

Thanks all :)

Best....point to point wireless, a pair of the smaller nanobeams. One from the house aiming at the barn, and this nanobeam is connected to a POE switch which is uplinked to the router, or out of the routers LAN ports using a POE injector. And one at the shed...aimed at the house...plugged into a little POE switch..that also has an AP or two connected to to sprinkle wifi around the shed area.

For a 1200 foot leap...I would not try to mesh. When we setup outdoor areas with MESH...we go for ~125 feet apart in a grid pattern...maybe 150 feet apart. Don't like to go higher than 175' apart.

Don't worry you'll be alright mate :) , I just installed a point to point CPE in a similar setup, in a rural property in Sydney using ip com CPE 3 and works well, just get a pair of these and stick it up line of sight set one in AP mode and the other in client mode and off you go ... good luck

Thanks all so would a pair of these suffice?

Ubiquiti LiteBeam AC 23dBi 5GHz 802.11 ac Antenna & two switches one based at homebase, other at shed/barn.

or

Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC Long Range WiFi Access Point - UAP-AC-LR

Any of the airMAX units will do a point to point shot.
You can use the LiteBeam. The nanostations are less expensive and small/compact, so they're popular.

The Unifi APs...those are the access points you'd use indoors. The WAPs. Those won't be used for a point to point wireless uplink. They do support a mesh feature (as do all Unifi APs)...but you won't be doing a 1200+ foot link with mesh...stick to point to point.

But you will be using an AP at the barn, put behind the airMAX radio...so you can use one there.
