Looking at this on behalf of a friend. HP G62-102SA laptop, randomly displays a totally white screen. Can be immediately at the BIOS screen stage, or when booted to Windows. Sometimes goes for days without doing it, sometimes appears as soon as switched on.
Manipulation of the screen and lid does not appear to trigger anything. Output displays normally to external monitor, even when laptop screen is white.
Now this is one of those horror-design laptops with the two screen bezel screws located at the bottom two corners, meaning you have to more or less dismantle the entire laptop to get to the screen and cables. At this point, this is not something I'm prepared to do, as I just want to give my friend a rough estimate.
I'm thinking it could be the screen itself, loose or damaged screen cable, or worst case the mobo.
Anybody had this problem with similar HP laptops before? What was the cause?
