Got a head scratcher here. Have an elderly customer with an elderly PC - an HP Pavilion G7-1323nr. He brought it in for a virus cleanup. It has 3 USB ports - 2 on the left and 1 on the right. We could only get the right one to work. He needs 2 ports for wireless KB/mouse and printer. We have tried EVERYTHING. Checked BIOS update - current. Checked Device Manager. Everything looks OK. Reloaded Windows 10. Even loaded Win 7. Tried PE10. No voltage on left USBs. We talked to the customer and he can't afford to replace it. We found another exact MOBO on Ebay. Installed it and guess what -none of the ports work. Tried RAM charger, battery. The only thing we haven't tried is the CPU.

A simple unpowered hub is fine for those things, even a USB 2.0 hub.

The USB port on the right is USB 2.0 while the two on the left are USB 3.1 and have a different power supply. That thing is 11 years old; barely worth the cost of a cheap USB 2 HUB.

Maybe something is wonky with the single port that's on its own board. Seems odd a second board would have the same issue. I would probably get that USB board and a third board and see if it works.
