Not in my experience. USPS tracking, if you choose to expose the detailed tracking steps and/or have every step emailed or texted to you, has every bit as much depth as most, and more than some.

It's almost too detailed, with each stop along the way documented.

I'd rather be notified every stop than go days wondering where it's at since it left the last stop. Knowing you can't move it along any faster than the USPS processing centers can be really frustrating, too. Not to mention you're in Arizona and something from NY, NJ or FL overshoots its designation and goes to CA, then UT, then down to southern AZ before it reaches Las Vegas where it arrives in Bullhead 2 days later.

And the nice thing about USPS tracking is you can choose, via checkbox, not only what updates will be sent to you, but how. I end up with nauseating detail because I, like you, want to know each and every documented step of the trip.

There have been a couple of instances where a package has gone from its origin point to the nearest mail sorting center, or even the local post office, and the wait after it arrives at "the next to the last step" is longer than all the time taken to get it there. Admittedly, that's rare, but I did have that happen recently where once a package got to my local post office, it didn't get to me for several days after that. That's very unusual, but it happened.

I always "select all", when I track via text. I've had some packages arrive in Vegas, which is the last stop before Bullhead, AZ, then head to Washington or some other place far, far away. I guess it's possible the package may have been stuck to another going somewhere else but it sure is aggravating.

UPS has the absolute WORST tracking system ever. They used to be pretty good but they give less and less detail all the time. FedEx is good, however, and I get those updates via email. Their updates allow you to label what's in the package so you know which update is which.

Yep. Just had a new watch band shipped to me from WA via USPS. I literally got a msg at every stop along the way. I'm fine with that.
