I was just remembering when I was in a FB tech repair group. I got an IT guy I knew into it and he wrote he was honored to be part of a group of such professionals.
The mod cracked me up when he replied "You misspelled alcoholics."

I belonged to a software club that sent me new freeware every month via 3.5 floppies.

I used to subscribe to several "Tech" magazines that had a CD (later DVD) attached to the cove which contained a plethora of free, trial and paid software.
I used to love getting them and found some remarkable software that I used for many years.
Of course this was back in the days of 56k dialup and later 256kbs broadband....
